While the Indian women’s cricket team have set their sights on a maiden T20 World Cup trophy, the men’s team are set to play their first home T20I series since becoming world champions earlier this year.

After a thrilling Test series against Bangladesh which saw India triumph 2-0, the Men in Blue are set to face the visitors in three T20Is starting with the first game at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on Friday.

After the heroics at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, India won two T20I series away from home. Shubman Gill led India to a 4-1 victory over Zimbabwe and later, under the new full-time T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, the team picked up a 3-0 win against Sri Lanka.

India have continued their post-T20 World Cup trend of testing out new players, with three uncapped players appearing in India’s squad for the Bangladesh series - Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Abhishek Sharma and Jitesh Sharma returned to the squad as well.

While the fast bowling department has some new and exciting faces, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, and Varun Chakravarthy are the frontline spinners.

India and Bangladesh have faced each other 14 times in T20Is with the Men in Blue coming out on top in 13 of them. Their most recent meeting was in the Super 8 stages of the T20 World Cup in June, where India won by 50 runs.

Team India will look to set the tone for the series with a victory in Gwalior.
