With our fourth straight win, we now have eight points from five matches in IPL 2025.
We extended our dominant run in IPL 2025 with a commanding 58-run win over Rajasthan Royals — our fourth consecutive victory — at a packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Put in to bat, Sai Sudharsan hogged the limelight with 82 off 53 balls, along with contributions from Jos Buttler (36), Shahrukh Khan (36) and Rahul Tewatia (24 not out) to power us to 217/6 in 20 overs.
Later, we rode on an outstanding bowling performance to bowl out the Royals for 159 in 19.2 overs and secure our fourth win on the trot.
Prasidh was our wrecker-in-chief with three wickets, while Rashid bagged two scalps in Ahmedabad.
Sai-Su dazzles in powerplay
Our stylish opener, Sai-Su, got us off to a brilliant start despite losing captain Shubman Gill at the other end.
Sudharsan played some scintillating shots to put the pressure back on the RR bowlers. Our southpaw then hammered RR pacer Tushar Deshpande to accumulate 18 runs in the fifth over. Despite an early setback, we were 56/1 at the end of the powerplay.
Buttler, Sai-Su continue the assault
Jos Buttler soon joined the party as he slammed Fazalhaq Farooqi for back-to-back boundaries in the seventh over.
Buttler and Sudharsan continued their attacking approach in the middle overs. Meanwhile, in the 10th over, Sai-Su notched up his third fifty of the season, this time off just 32 balls. Their outstanding 80-run partnership ended in the same over as Buttler departed for a quick-fire 36.
Batting at No.4, Shahrukh Khan quickly hit a couple of boundaries and followed it with a huge six off Deshpande in the 13th over.
Carnage at NaMo Stadium
In the following over, Shahrukh clobbered Maheesh Theekshana for two fours and one six to amass 16 runs.
Our dynamic pair added 62 runs for the third wicket before Shahrukh and Sherfane Rutherford fell in quick succession.
Later in the 17th over, Sudharsan smashed Sandeep Sharma for consecutive boundaries, while Rahul Tewatia hammered Jofra Archer for a maximum in the following over.
Looking to up the ante, Sai-Su’s magnificent 82-run knock then ended in the 19th over. His knock was laced with eight fours and three sixes. Rashid Khan continued our momentum with a 4-ball 12 before he fell in the same over.
Tewatia hit some lusty blows in the final over as he remained unbeaten on 24 to help us post 217/6 in our 20 overs.
“The way we were going, we felt we could get 15 more, but this is still a great score,” Sudharsan said after the first innings.
“Slower ones and change of pace will hold on the wicket, so I feel we have a good score,” he added.
Arshad, Siraj bag early wickets
Defending 217, our left-arm pacer Arshad Khan gave us an early breakthrough as he bagged the huge wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over.
Our bowling spearhead Mohammed Siraj soon joined the party as he removed Nitish Rana in the very next over.
Titans pick up regular wickets
Later in the seventh over, Kulwant Khejroliya, our impact sub, made an instant impact as he got rid of Riyan Parag to end a 38-run stand with Sanju Samson.
Our spin wizard, Rashid Khan, then dismissed Dhruv Jurel to reduce the Royals to 68/4 in 7.4 overs.
Samson and Shimron Hetmyer stitched a 48-run stand before our pacer Prasidh Krishna got the better of the opposition captain in the 13th over.
Fourth consecutive W
Rashid later bagged his second wicket of the match as he trapped Shubham Dubey in front of the stumps. Prasidh soon removed Jofra Archer and Shimron Hetmyer in the 16th over.
Our star left-arm spinner Sai Kishore wrapped up their innings as he dismissed Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana to help us bowl out the Royals for 159 and guide us to another commanding win at our fortress.
“IPL is the kind of tournament where you need momentum from the start. Always a joy to contribute to team wins,” Sai-Su said after he was adjudged the Player of the Match.
Having registered our fourth consecutive victory, we have moved to the top of the IPL 2025 standings with eight points from five matches. We will be aiming to extend our winning streak against hosts Lucknow Super Giants in our upcoming IPL 2025 clash on Saturday.
