The Indian cricket team will look to maintain their unbeaten run when they square off against New Zealand in their final Group A match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 2.

Led by captain Rohit Sharma, India have already qualified from Group A for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals with two wins in two matches.

The Men in Blue will head into the fixture brimming with confidence after they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by six wickets in their previous game in Dubai.

Kuldeep Yadav’s three-wicket haul (3/40) and Hardik Pandya’s 2/31 helped India bowl Pakistan out for 241 in 49.4 overs. 

In reply, Virat Kohli’s unbeaten century along with contributions from Shreyas Iyer (56) and Shubman Gill (46) guided India to a comprehensive win in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy.

Earlier, India started their campaign with a clinical six-wicket win over Bangladesh courtesy Shubman Gill’s scintillating ton.

Newly appointed vice-captain Gill has been the leading run-scorer for India in the ongoing tournament, having amassed 147 runs in two matches. Among Indian batters, Kohli features second on the list with 122 runs.

In the bowling department, star pacer Mohammad Shami has been the wrecker-in-chief for India with five wickets while his fast bowling partner Harshit Rana has four scalps.

The Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand booked their place in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals with a five-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Rawalpindi on Monday.

Opting to bowl first, New Zealand rode on Michael Bracewell’s four-wicket haul while Will O'Rourke bagged two wickets to restrict Bangladesh to 236/9 in their 50 overs.

Rachin Ravindra later slammed 112 to help the Kiwis chase down the target in 46.1 overs. 

New Zealand earlier beat co-hosts Pakistan by 60 runs in the opening match of the tournament in Karachi. 

India and New Zealand will now clash in the upcoming fixture to secure top spot in Group A.

Regardless of the outcome on Sunday, India will play the first semi-final in Dubai on March 4 while New Zealand will feature in the second semi-final scheduled to be played in Lahore on March 5.

India vs New Zealand head-to-head record in ODIs

India have a superior head-to-head record against New Zealand in ODI cricket. The Men in Blue have won 60 of the 118 matches that they have played against each other. The Kiwis have registered 50 wins while one match ended in a tie. As many as seven ODIs have ended with no results.

The last time these two sides met in the 50-over format, India beat New Zealand by 70 runs in the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
