The Indian men’s cricket team will lock horns with Australia in the first semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, March 4. The India vs Australia semi-final clash will start at 2:30 PM IST.

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India sailed into the semis of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy with three consecutive victories in the group stage.

India began their campaign with a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh thanks to vice-captain Shubman Gill’s brilliant century.

The Men in Blue then brushed aside arch-rivals Pakistan, also by six wickets, in their second outing before trumping New Zealand by 44 runs on Sunday.

With six points from three matches, India topped Group A standings to set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash against Australia.

Shreyas Iyer (150 runs), Shubman Gill (149 runs) and Virat Kohli (133 runs) have all been among the runs for India in the ongoing 50-over tournament.

In the bowling department, leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy, star pacer Mohammad Shami and left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav have picked up five wickets each.

On the other hand, Australia booked their place in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-finals by finishing second in Group B behind South Africa.

Led by captain Steve Smith, Australia started their campaign with an impressive five-wicket victory over rivals England in a high-scoring match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

However, Australia’s next two group matches against South Africa and Afghanistan were abandoned due to rain.

Ahead of Tuesday’s semi-final clash, Australia also suffered a huge blow as opener Matthew Short was ruled out due to injury. All-rounder Cooper Connolly has replaced Short in the squad.

The last time India and Australia met in an ICC tournament was in the Super 8 stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue won the match by 24 runs.

However, it was the Aussies who came out on top when the rivals squared off in the  ODI World Cup 2023 final.

India and Australia are two of the most successful teams in Champions Trophy history with two titles each. Australia won successive editions in 2006 and 2009 while India bagged the crown in 2013 and shared the honours with Sri Lanka in 2002.
