The T20I Series is set for a final showdown between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai!
India extended their T20I dominance, clinching a record 17th consecutive home series with a thrilling win in the fourth match against England. Under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, they bounced back from a tough start to seal the series with a game to spare.
Batting first for the first time in the series, India stumbled early as Saqib Mahmood’s sensational three-wicket maiden left them reeling at 12/3. Sanju Samson fell for 1, while Tilak Varma and skipper Suryakumar Yadav departed without scoring. Abhishek Sharma and Rinku Singh steadied the innings with a 45-run stand, but their quick dismissals left India in trouble at 79/5.
That’s when Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube took charge, balancing caution with aggression. Once settled, they unleashed a flurry of strokes, with Hardik smashing a brilliant fifty and Dube following suit with a crucial half-century. Their partnership powered India to a competitive 181 in 20 overs.
England started aggressively, with Ben Duckett and Phil Salt adding 62 runs in just six overs. However, India made a strong comeback as Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Duckett for 39. Axar Patel followed up by removing Salt, and Bishnoi sent Jos Buttler back, leaving England at 67 for 3. Harry Brook kept England in the hunt with a blistering 26-ball 51, but Varun Chakaravarthy proved to be his nemesis, dismissing him at a critical moment.
The standout moment came when Harshit Rana, replacing Shivam Dube as a concussion substitute, bowled a brilliant spell. He took three key wickets and delivered a match-changing 19th over to put India in control. Bishnoi also claimed three wickets, as India held their nerve to seal a 15-run victory.
The series now shifts to Mumbai for the fifth and final T20I at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Known for early swing, the pitch usually improves for batting as the game unfolds. If batsmen survive the early overs, a high-scoring encounter is on the cards. India enters as favourites, but England will look to finish the series on a winning note.
