India have remained unbeaten against Pakistan in their last six ODI matches since 2018.
The Indian cricket team will be aiming to continue their winning momentum when they lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan in their second Group A match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, February 23.
Under the leadership of captain Rohit Sharma, India started their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a comfortable six-wicket win over Bangladesh in Dubai on Thursday.
Star pacer Mohammed Shami bagged a five-wicket haul while his pace-bowling partner Harshit Rana picked up three wickets and left-arm spinner Axar Patel took two wickets to help India bowl out Bangladesh for 228 in 49.4 overs.
Chasing a tricky target on a challenging surface, Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Shubman Gill forged a brilliant 69-run opening stand before skipper departed in the 10th over.
After an impressive start, the Men in Blue suffered a loss of momentum in middle overs as Virat Kohli (22), Shreyas Iyer (15) and Axar Patel (8) fell in a short span as they were soon reduced to 144/4.
Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul and Gill then stitched an 87-run stand for the fifth-wicket to guide India to a victory with 21 balls to spare.
Gill was later adjudged the Player of the Match for his match-winning century (101*), his eighth ODI hundred.
With two points on the board, India are currently placed second in the Group A standings.
On the other hand, defending champions Pakistan succumbed to a 60-run defeat against New Zealand in the opening match of the tournament at the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday.
Put in to bat, the Kiwis posted 320/5 in their 50 overs before they bowled out Mohammad Rizwan’s Pakistan for 260 in 47.2 overs.
New Zealand are currently leading the Group A standings courtesy of a better net run-rate than India, while Bangladesh and Pakistan are yet to open their account.
India vs Pakistan head-to-head record in ODIs

However, India have remained unbeaten against Pakistan in their last six ODI matches since 2018.
Considering their recent head-to-head record, Rohit Sharma’s men will look to continue their winning streak against their fierce rivals to book their place in the semi-finals.
