It wasn’t our day in Lucknow, as our four-match winning streak ended in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a hard-fought defeat to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Put in to bat, our captain Shubman Gill led from the front with 60 off 38 balls, while our opener Sai Sudharsan continued his sensational form with a 37-ball 56 to help us post 180/6 in our 20 overs.

Later, our bowlers fought hard till the very end, however, it wasn’t enough as the Super Giants chased down the target in 19.3 overs.

Sai-Su, Shubman show at Ekana

Our stylish opening duo of Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill got us off to a brilliant start. Sai-Su and Gill played some exhilarating shots as we reached our fifty in just 5.1 overs.

The pair continued their attacking approach as our skipper Gill notched up his fifty off 31 balls in the ninth over.

Meanwhile, captain Gill and Sai-Su brought our century in 9.5 overs and laid a great foundation for our batters. Later, in the 11th over, Gill soon completed 2000 runs for us in the IPL. SaiSu soon completed his half-century off 32 balls, his 10th fifty in the IPL.

During his fourth fifty in IPL 2025, Sudharsan surpassed Nicholas Pooran and became the new Orange Cap holder.

However, we lost momentum in the middle overs as Gill, Sudharsan and Washington Sundar fell in quick succession.

Shahrukh, Buttler, Rutherford power us to 180

Batting at No.3, Jos Buttler quickly hit some boundaries, which kept our momentum going. Our Caribbean southpaw Sherfane Rutherford then contributed with a crucial cameo of 22 runs, while Shahrukh Khan remained unbeaten on 11 to help us post 180/6 in our 20 overs.

Prasidh provides breakthrough

Defending 180, Prasidh ‘Skiddy’ Krishna continued his impressive form as he bagged the huge wicket of Rishabh Pant to end their 65-run opening stand.

Later in the 12th over, Prasidh claimed another crucial breakthrough as he dismissed Aiden Markram for 58.

Rashid removes dangerous Pooran

Our spin wizard Rashid Khan soon joined the party as he got the massive wicket of Nicholas Pooran which kept us in the game. Meanwhile, Pooran reclaimed the Orange Cap after his knock of 61 runs.

The winning streak ends

Despite best efforts from our bowlers in the final few overs, the Super Giants managed to chase down the target with six wickets in hand.

With eight points from six matches, we are placed second on the IPL 2025 standings.

Our Titans will aim to bounce back quickly against Delhi Capitals at our fortress, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on Saturday, April 19.
