Indian cricket team’s vice-captain Shubman Gill was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025 on Wednesday, March 12, on the back of a title-winning performance in the Champions Trophy.

Having amassed 406 runs in just five ODIs at an impressive average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19 during the month of February, Gill pipped his fellow Titan Glenn Phillips of New Zealand and Australia's Steve Smith to claim the prestigious award.

The 25-year-old bagged the ICC Men’s Player of the Month honour for the third time in his career, having previously won the award in January 2023 and September 2023.

“It’s always special to contribute to the team’s success and to be recognised for it. My focus has always been on playing positively and making every opportunity count,” Gill said while talking about his consistent performances in February.

Our talismanic batter was earlier adjudged the Player of the Series in India’s 3-0 ODI series clean sweep over England. 

Gill scored an impressive 87 in the opening ODI in Nagpur and later followed it up with a 52-ball 60 in Cuttack.

Our swashbuckling right-handed batter wrapped up the series with a scintillating hundred (112) at our home, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He was also awarded the Player of the Match for his magnificent knock, which was laced with 14 fours and three sixes.

Gill continued his brilliant form in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as he slammed an unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh in their opening clash to guide India to a six-wicket win in Dubai. He later scored a resolute 46 against arch-rivals Pakistan which India won by six wickets.

With 188 runs in five matches, Gill played a pivotal role in helping India clinch their third ICC Champions Trophy title last week.
