Ishant Sharma, known as “Lambu” for his tall frame, made his debut in the Ranji Trophy at 18 and in Tests in 2007. He first gained attention with a memorable spell against Ricky Ponting in the 2007-08 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and was India’s top wicket-taker in the 2008 Commonwealth Bank Series with 14 wickets. Ishant also made his mark in the IPL, including a 5-wicket haul for Deccan Chargers in 2012
In the 2013 Champions Trophy, he took 10 wickets to help India win the tournament. His 7-wicket haul at Lord’s in 2014 was pivotal to India’s victory over England. Ishant reached 300 Test wickets in 2021 and was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2020. Over the years, he has played for various IPL franchises and joined Gujarat Titans in 2025.
